US Ambassador pays courtesy call on President

The US Ambassador to the Maldives, Mr. Jeffrey Lunstead paid a courtesy call on President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom yesterday morning. The call was held at the President’s Office.

The President and US Ambassador discussed the close friendly relations that existed between the Maldives and the United States, and ways to further strengthen these relations.

As the Maldives and the United States cooperate in the fight against terrorism, the President handed over to Ambassador Lunstead information received from the Government of a friendly country with regard to potential security threats to the Maldives.

Ambassador Lunstead noted the efforts by the President to implement his 9th June reform agenda, and assured the President on the fullest cooperation by the US in this endeavour.
